U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) announced today that the town of Union has received a $1 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission for its Union Water System Improvements project.
These funds will be used to build two water tanks and install a water line for UTC Aerospace Systems, a major employer in Monroe County. The expansion will improve the town's fire protection capacity, enhance reliability of service, and provide the foundation for expanded access to underserved communities.
"I visited UTC Aerospace Systems earlier this year and know the importance of this employer to Monroe County. This important project will allow UTC to grow and expand while improving service for existing customers. Additionally, it will lay the groundwork for future expansions to underserved communities, which will further improve the quality of life for residents in Monroe County. I will continue to support funding that invests in rural West Virginia and improves the quality of life for all residents," Rep. Jenkins said.
