Congressman Guthrie Votes to Combat Threats to U.S. National Security

This week Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted in support of legislation that would further protect the United States in light of recent reports indicating that North Korea has tested another atomic weapon.

Congressman Guthrie voted in favor of H.R. 757, the North Korea Sanctions Enforcement Act, which he previously cosponsored. This bill is designed to hold the North Korean regime accountable and provide the tools needed to stifle their terrorism financing.

"President Obama's foreign policy lacks a coherent strategy and now we're seeing the consequences," said Congressman Guthrie. "Rogue regimes like North Korea continue to violate international law with impunity. The president refuses to provide a strong response and instead is allowing these bad actors to threaten their neighbors and our own country. Congress must send a strong message--the American people will not sit back and allow foreign threats to go unanswered."

H.R. 757 denies sanctioned North Koreans and supporters of the regime access to the U.S. banking system.
