Democrat Makes Statement at Debate

Statement

Date: May 7, 2016

There's only one Democrat in the governor race and he, too was at today's event in Crosby.

Marvin Nelson read a statement to the crowd about the issues he sees as critical in the election.

One issue that Nelson spoke about was workforce safety and insurance in North Dakota.

(Marvin Nelson, Democrat Candidate) "The people of the state, it's a great state, I love this state but we take the WSI and our volunteers and other workers who are seriously injured get kicked to the side of life and receive nothing. This last session the legislature in party line basically, we had one republican vote who took away the benefits of self employed volunteers who receive for disability in this state. They will receive nothing if their disabled other than their medical bills and why we would do that to people who are so heavily subsidies in the state, I dont know and that's why I'm running."

The men chasing their party's endorsement are hoping to replace Governor Jack Dalrymple, who is not seeking reelection in November.
