Chairman Becerra: A Win in the Fight for Women's Rights

Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement following the Supreme Court's (5-3) decision in the case of Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt protecting women's rights.

"This is a significant win in the fight for women's rights across America. It ensures that mothers, sisters and daughters can access the care they need, no matter where they live, and it prevents lawmakers from getting between women and their doctors.

"Republicans in Congress have targeted women's rights in their attacks: they have repeatedly tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act, rejected measures to guarantee women equal pay for equal work, and pursued the defunding of healthcare services for women.

"The Court got it right today. It could have set America's march toward equality and the protection of women's rights backwards. Instead, we now have another tool in our fight to ensure that every woman has access to the health care she needs."
