U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement today after House passage of H.R. 3724 and H.R. 4890, bills which provide oversight and accountability over IRS employees.

"The IRS holds extraordinary power over the lives and livelihoods of the American people," said Stutzman. "With this power comes the responsibility for the IRS to hire and employ individuals of the highest integrity and who are worthy of the public's trust. The legislation passed today ensures the IRS does not rehire unqualified, previously terminated employees and also places a ban on the payment of bonuses until the IRS implements strategic customer service improvements. This tax season, hardworking Hoosiers deserve nothing less."
