Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today after voting for a new federal labeling requirement for GMO products:

"Today I voted for a nationwide mandatory label for food containing GMO ingredients. Michiganders want to know what is in the food they are eating and serving their families. We live in a state with no labeling requirements, and little prospect of the Michigan Legislature acting to provide transparency for Michiganders.

"While this bill is not perfect, it is an important first step in the right direction. I am committed to building on this framework to improve transparency for consumers. Without this bill, Michigan consumers would not have mandatory labeling."
