Chairman Becerra: The ACA Saves Lives and Money

Statement

Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), released a statement following a hearing by the Committee on Ways and Means on health insurance premiums:

"One of the greatest reasons for insecurity in America has been the high cost of healthcare. It used to be that a medical bill could drive many working families into bankruptcy. Fortunately, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has changed much of this for the better. Today, 8 in 10 Americans are satisfied with their ACA health insurance plan. About 20 million more Americans now have health insurance than before the ACA became law.

"Today's hearing illustrated that we still have work to do to make sure all Americans benefit from having real health security made possible by the ACA. But what today's hearing made clear is that the ACA is working, saving lives and money."
