Issue Position: Working with the Military and Supporting our Troops

Issue Position

The Pacific Northwest plays a vital role in U.S. defense. Both Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and Naval Station Everett support a great number of constituents residing in the 10th Legislative District. In my 27 years as a military spouse, both active duty and reserve, I have seen first hand the sacrifices made by armed service members and their families. Without such sacrifice, our Nation would not be a world leader of democracy and human rights.

Having been among sailors and soldiers for decades it is my belief that these individuals fight to protect our Nation's freedom and peaceful quality of life. They do not want to put those they serve in harms way. It is up to local elected officials to work closely with federal and military representatives to inform them of community concerns and to make recommendations for solutions that protect local economic, environmental, and public safety needs while securing strategic military functions. I will promote open and accurate information to foster positive outcomes.
