I believe that government should help lift all people. Government should be responsive to the needs in the community, be results-oriented, and be transparent. Conflicts of interest should be avoided. When I was on the Kaua`i County Council, I incorporated an anti-nepotism policy in the county council rules. I also recused myself from voting on matters when I had a conflict of interest.
