Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus issued the following statement in response to data released today by the American Community Survey, showing that California's 34th Congressional District had the greatest drop in its uninsured rate than any congressional district in the country:
"I'm thrilled to learn that my district saw the greatest drop in its uninsurance rate over two years of any district in the country -- the uninsured rate of 33.1% in 2013 dropped to 18.6% in 2015. No one can credibly deny that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is working and that the state exchanges like Covered California set up by the law have proved effective and necessary to give hardworking Americans access to affordable health care. Through the ACA, we are building a healthier America.
"There is still much work to be done to make sure every child, mother, father and the elderly resident of our district are insured with health coverage. But thanks to the Affordable Care Act, we are closer to meeting our goal of providing quality, affordable care to every American who needs it.
"I will continue to work to make sure that all men, women and children in my district can get access to quality, affordable care."
