Today, Planned Parenthood announced its support for Joe Garcia in Florida's 26th district, a key swing district in the fight for control of Congress. Garcia has a long record of support for reproductive freedom and women's healthcare, receiving a perfect 100% score from NARAL Pro-Choice America. Garcia fought at every turn to support Obamacare to ensure women would not be overcharged for healthcare services solely because of their gender.

"I'm honored to have Planned Parenthood's support for my work on women's issues during my time in Congress," said Joe Garcia, candidate for Florida's 26th Congressional District. "There are thousands of women's clinics that provide vital services to women throughout the country, and I am committed to defending them and a woman's right to choose."

Garcia's Republican opponent, Carlos Curbelo, supported a bill restricting abortions that was so radical even fellow members of the Republican Party rejected it. He has pushed for repealing Obamacare, and even voted to defund Planned Parenthood, which would leave millions of working American women without access to critical preventive care, including cancer screenings. Republican Carlos Curbelo received a 15% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America.

"Carlos Curbelo can try to distance himself from Donald Trump, but he can't run away from his record of voting against a woman's basic right to healthcare," said Javier Hernandez spokesperson for the Garcia Campaign. "Carlos Curbelo spent his time in Congress legislating women's bodies; this November, women will reject him at the ballot box."

Planned Parenthood's endorsement comes at a critical juncture in a tight race, where the latest poll has Garcia winning. Women makeup over 54% of all registered voters in CD26 and have historically made up over 57% of the electorate. In an election where a lot is at stake for women, Carlos Curbelo's anti-women policies and Donald Trump's misogynist rhetoric stand in direct contrast to Garcia's strong record of standing up for women.
