Location: Washington, DC

Congressman McKinley released the following statement after the 21st Century Cures Act passed the House. This landmark legislation increases funding for medical research, modernizes new treatments for rare diseases, reforms mental health programs, and provides new funding to fight opioid abuse.

"Investing in research will allow America to advance new technologies and remain the world leader in medical innovation and scientific discoveries. It will encourage a new approach to treatments and cures to devastating diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's. It also offers a real plan to strengthen collaboration in our fight against drugs," said McKinley.

"This legislation is fully paid for and will not increase the national debt. It is a true bipartisan success and it will ultimately save lives. Because of Chairman Upton's steadfast leadership, it has remained one of our top priorities in the House, and I'm looking forward to seeing it signed into law," McKinley said.
