Issues: Reproduction

Today, Rep. Todd Rokita released the following statement after co-sponsoring and voting in favor of H.J.Res 43, Providing for congressional disapproval of the rule relating to compliance with title X requirements by project recipients in selecting subrecipients. The resolution passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 230 to 188.

"As a pro-life Hoosier, I am proud of my vote to repeal a regulation used to prop up organizations like Planned Parenthood. The federal government has no business mandating states spend their healthcare dollars on providers of abortion. This resolution will allow states to once again separate funding for women's healthcare from funding for abortion providers, protecting taxpayers from funding the practice."

H.J.Res 43 would repeal the Obama administration's rule preventing states from eliminating abortion providers from Title X grant distributions. This resolution will allow states to enjoy again the freedom and flexibility to distribute Title X grant money in a way that serves the needs of their constituents.
