Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after President Trump issued an Executive Order directing an overhaul of federal regulations that would result in cheaper, more affordable health insurance options for middle-income Americans.
LaMalfa said: "We've known for years that the Affordable Care Act is unsustainable. I've heard from numerous constituents that their premiums have risen by 50-60% just this year. One way or another, middle-income families need greater choice and lower costs. Today, the President is using the tools available to him to lower premiums, offer more affordable options, and increase competitiveness in the healthcare marketplace. Now, small businesses should be able to band together to purchase insurance for their employees across state lines, lowering costs for many workers who couldn't afford their premiums under the Obamacare model. I'm glad the President is making the limited changes to this law that he can, but Congress must keep working to implement changes on a larger scale and find permanent solutions to fix this broken law."
