Rokita Backs Trump's Executive Order on Obamacare

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Rokita released the following statement in support of President Trump's executive order on Obamacare.

"Obamacare is one of the most insidious pieces of legislation to ever pass through Congress. We did our part in the House by passing the American Health Care Act (AHCA), but the Senate failed us because political elites and special interests trumped common sense legislation. While we continue the fight to repeal and replace Obamacare, President Trump's executive order is a positive step to ensure that all Americans have more control, more choices and more affordable healthcare," Rokita said.

President Trump's executive order on Obamacare directs the Secretary of Labor to consider expanding access to Association Health Plans. This has the potential to allow small businesses to form groups across state lines which would lead to lower health care prices because it would increase options for these groups. The order also directs the Departments of Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services to consider changing Health Reimbursement Arrangements. These arrangements are employer funded accounts that reimburse employees for health expenses including deductibles and copays.
