Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Building a Better America budget; Johnson voted in favor of the resolution:

The Building a Better America budget balances by 2027, promotes economic growth, ensures a strong national defense, improves the sustainability of Medicare, and reforms federal programs by improving accountability. Importantly, this budget strengthens programs like Medicare and Social Security that seniors and some of our most vulnerable citizens rely on -- and we must ensure that these programs continue for future generations.

BOTH political parties in Washington, at times, have refused to abide by the same simple principle that hard-working American families must adhere to -- living within your means. Our national debt is now over $20's hard to even comprehend a number that high. If excessive Washington spending and debt are not brought under control, the consequences for America's future will be dire.

Today's budget resolution puts America on both a realistic and sustainable fiscal path, while laying out the path forward for tax reform that will give thousands of families in Eastern and Southeastern Ohio more opportunities to achieve the American Dream and a higher quality of life.
