Sanders Statement on Motion to Proceed with Republican Tax Plan

Statement

Date: Nov. 29, 2017
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, issued the following statement Wednesday after Senate Republicans voted to move forward with their tax bill:

"I am disappointed but not surprised that the Republicans voted unanimously to proceed with a disastrous tax bill. This bill will provide 62 percent of the benefits to the top 1 percent and at the end of 10 years increase taxes on 87 million middle class households -- half of the families making $200,000 a year or less. Together the American people must rally to defeat the Republican tax bill."
