The House Defends the Second Amendment

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act:

"American citizens should not have their right to keep and bear arms restricted simply because they travel out of state. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act protects every American's Second Amendment rights by ensuring that those who are allowed to possess a concealed handgun in one state can carry in other states that permit concealed carry, as long as they observe all laws in the state that they're in. If opponents of the Second Amendment want to take people's rights away, they should do it the old fashioned way: convince a supermajority of the American people and amend the Constitution. Otherwise, we have a duty to defend the Constitution as it is--all of it."
