Rep. Jenkins: WV Needs Trump's Infrastructure Plan

Statement

Date: Feb. 12, 2018
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Infrastructure

U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issue the following statement on President Trump's infrastructure plan, which was released this morning:

"As go the roads, so go the jobs. Here in West Virginia, we have several long promised but never completed highway projects that have been mired in funding and permitting limbo. One of those is the King Coal Highway, but I was able to help expedite a key section through Buffalo Mountain by cutting through agencies' red tape. We need that flexibility and local control for other projects, and President Trump's infrastructure plan will give us that.

"A key aspect of this infrastructure plan is local control and decision making -- after all, someone from West Virginia knows what our state needs much more than a bureaucrat in Washington. It also includes a special focus on investment in rural areas to bring much-needed broadband and water infrastructure investments. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will work to support this plan and ensure its proposals are fully funded in a fiscally responsible way."
