Governor Chris Sununu Signs HB 1817

Statement

Date: June 6, 2018
Location: Concord, NH

Today, Governor Chris Sununu signed HB 1817, which adds an additional $10 million to the State's Rainy Day Fund, grants $20 million to repair red listed bridges, returns $10 million to municipalities for roads and bridges improvements, adds funding for affordable housing projects, increases funding for the fight against the opioid crisis through the Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative, provides a collective bargaining agreement that is fair to state employees and the tax payers, and enacts a DSH settlement with the State's hospitals that will deliver certainty and stability to our healthcare system.

"I am incredibly proud that sound fiscal management, coupled with federal tax reform and state business tax cuts, has resulted in an anticipated revenue surplus for this year. In addition to carrying a significant amount into next year and adding to the rainy day fund, this surplus will give New Hampshire the opportunity to make critical and fiscally responsible investments using one time monies for one time expenditures, all while sending money directly to municipalities to repair roads and bridges in support of local taxpayers."
