U.S. Senate candidate Chris McDaniel is calling on appointed Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith to fight back against Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for not supporting President Trump's position to immediately fund the border wall.

"I'm calling on Cindy Hyde-Smith to stand up and fight against Mitch McConnell to fully fund the wall on the southern border right now," McDaniel said, "not after the midterms. Cindy should push back against Mitch McConnell and push back against the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to help enact the President's plan to build the wall."

President Trump tweeted this week "I would be willing to "shut down' government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall! Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to system of Immigration based on MERIT! We need great people coming into our Country!"

McConnell went on record this week saying that funding for the wall would have to wait until after the 2018 midterms.

When asked if wall funding would have to wait until after the midterms, McConnell said, "Probably and that's something we do have a disagreement on," in reference to the President.

McDaniel has been very clear about his support of President Trump and his agenda. Number one on that agenda, from the very beginning, has been funding the wall. McDaniel says McConnell has derailed that agenda at every turn. Appointed Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is supported by McConnell and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

"Cindy Hyde-Smith has been dead silent on this issue," said McDaniel. "I'm calling on her today to stand on behalf of Mississippians and call for the immediate, full funding of a wall on the southern border."

McDaniel said that Cindy Hyde-Smith needs to vote against any budget that doesn't include fully fund the border wall.
