Leonard Lance Lands Endorsement from Clean Energy Group

Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions has endorsed U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance for re-election in the 7th Congressional District race over progressive Democratic challenger Tom Malinowski.

James Dozier, executive director of Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, said his group backed Lance for his "demonstrated leadership and support for the clean energy future Americans want and our economy demands."

"America faces big challenges and it's critical that candidates address them openly and with concrete solutions during the midterm elections," Dozier explained. "When it comes to growing our economy, bolstering our national security, and preserving our climate, voters and candidates are embracing clean energy."

The organization highlighted Lance's record of support for clean energy issues, including his membership in both the House Climate Solutions Caucus and Energy and Commerce Committee, votes to protect renewable energy programs within the Department of Energy and support of legislation to boost investment in nuclear energy and reduce methane emissions.

"It is an honor to receive this endorsement from Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions. As a member of both the Climate Solutions Caucus and Energy and Commerce Committee I have worked across the aisle to promote an "all of the above' energy policy that includes clean energy technologies. I am committed to continuing my efforts to advance clean energy solutions that grow our economy, strengthen our national security and protect our environment," Lance said.

Leonard Lance's record on clean energy includes:

Demonstrated a commitment to developing policy that fosters domestic job growth and ensures a reliable and affordable energy supply as a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee.
Promoted good stewardship of New Jersey's natural environment and coastlines as a member of the Climate Solutions Caucus.
Opposed efforts to remove language directing the U.S. Department of Defense to prepare for the effects of climate change from the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act.
Voted no on an amendment which would have eliminated funding for the ARPA-E program in the FY18 Energy and Water Appropriations bill.
Demonstrated a commitment to promoting clean energy technology as a member of the House Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus.
Is a cosponsor of a congressional resolution calling for innovative solutions to protect the nation's economic and national security from the growing challenges of climate change.
