Representative Keith Rothfus (PA-12) issued the following statement after the Department of Treasury announced the proposed rules for investing through the Opportunity Zones Program. The Opportunity Zones Program is a provision of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that aims to spur economic growth and job creation in underserved areas by providing a tax incentive. Pennsylvania's Twelfth District includes Opportunity Zones in Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Midland, Somerset, and Johnstown.

"The Opportunity Zones Program will ensure that the benefits of our growing economy are felt across Western Pennsylvania, especially in neighborhoods that have historically been overlooked," said Congressman Rothfus. "Today's announcement is one of the final steps in a process designed to trigger a wave of investment into our communities. I look forward to reviewing the proposed rules to ensure they are consistent with the intent of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to spread as much opportunity as possible in this growing economy."
