Issue Position

The family is the foundation of society and I believe it is under attack. As our government continues to extend itself into our lives, it is our families that pay the price. We can strengthen the families of this great state by returning to the idea of personal responsibility and accountability.

I believe marriage is between a man, a woman, and God. These are fundamental principles and are essential in maintaining strong families in our state.

-Authored House Bill 202 in the 83rd, which helps military families in the state of Texas

-Authored House Bill 2799, which was tacked on as an amendment and passed in the 84th, allowing parents the right to home school or send foster children to private schools

-Co-authored House Bill 4105 in the 84th, that would have forbidden state or local governments from using public funds to issue same-sex marriage licenses
