Issue Position: Government Reform

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018

Voters should choose their elected officials, not the other way around. Daniel favors independently drawn legislative maps, which will take power out of the backrooms and put it into the hands of the voters where it belongs. He also supports proposals that would get money out of politics, because elected officials should be spending more of their time serving our community and less time dialing for dollars.

Daniel has a proven record of fighting for government reforms that will save taxpayers money. As Vernon Township Supervisor, he championed the consolidation of the township's highway department, which will save Vernon Township taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars without sacrificing services provided to our community. As a state representative, he supports eliminating the office of Lieutenant Governor and consolidating the offices of Treasurer and Comptroller, which will save Illinois taxpayers millions of dollars every year.
