Issue Position

The Montana legislature is required by law to balance the budget every term. How they have gone about this has been a problem in the past. Montana needs to pass a sound budget that will care for the needs of the state while not elevating the tax burden on the people. We especially need to support industries in our state that are producing vast amounts of tax revenue and jobs.

NE Montana for instance, has been contributing hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenue but the Governor did not see fit to help them with the issues facing their communities as a result of the Oil boom. This does not send a good message to other areas of the state that are thinking of developing their resources but are concerned about the possible issues associated with such development.
