Issues: Infrastructure

During the 2017 Legislative Session:

I supported HB473 which increased the gas tax by a small amount on users of our roads and bridges to fund projects to maintain our roads and bridges for public safety. HB473 also helps counties and cities fund much needed projects without passing on the entire cost to property taxpayers. This bill also allows our out of state visitors to contribute to the infrastructure that keeps their visit to our beautiful state safe.

I supported SB367 which would have used bonding at very low interest rates to fund much needed projects such as renovation Romney Hall at Montana State University (which is badly needed to create additional classrooms for the rapidly growing university) and projects such as new boilers and roofs at rural school districts without sufficient tax bases to fund these projects.

I will work for solutions to fund critical projects needed for safety and to maximize our investments in our roads, bridges and public buildings.
