Romney and Young Commend McConnell and Kaine Tobacco 21 Legislation, Urge Swift Action

Today, U.S. Senators Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Todd Young (R-IN) issued the following statement regarding legislation introduced by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) to raise the legal tobacco age of sale to 21:

"We commend Majority Leader McConnell and Senator Kaine for taking this important step towards raising the legal tobacco and e-cigarette age to 21. We strongly urge our colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass a clean tobacco age increase as quickly as possible."

Last month, Senators Romney and Young, and Senators Brian Schatz (D-HI), and Dick Durbin (D-IL) introduced the Tobacco to 21 Act, bipartisan legislation that would prohibit the sale of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, to anyone under the age of 21. The legislation introduced today by Majority Leader McConnell and Senator Kaine mirrors this legislation.
