Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved $19.1 billion in disaster assistance for communities affected by natural disasters in 2018 and the first half of 2019. The relief package includes $3 billion to provide critical agriculture assistance for farmers recovering in the wake of Hurricane Michael, along with additional funds for communities in Georgia and other states. Following the passage of H.R. 2157, Representative Rob Woodall issued the following statement:
"Our farmers are the backbone of the American economy and risk so much to feed our friends, families, and neighbors. I am so pleased that we could come together to help our farmers recover after Hurricane Michael. Going forward, Congress needs to put politics aside and work together on bipartisan solutions that will help communities that need it the most."
