Bacon votes in favor of USMCA

Statement

After fighting for over a year alongside his colleagues to bring the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement to a vote, Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) and his fellow Members today passed the measure in the House.

"With nearly 35,000 jobs in Nebraska's Second Congressional District supported by trade with Canada and Mexico, and our country's economy being the best it has been in 50 years, this modernized trade deal is a no-brainer and will ensure our nation is able to compete for years to come," said Rep. Bacon.

"I have heard from many Nebraskan farmers, manufacturers, and organizations who support the USMCA because it will create thousands of jobs, eliminate barriers, and add $68 billion in economic growth," he added. "These are just a few of the many reasons why I voted in favor of the USMCA, and I urge my Senate colleagues to do the same."

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers also stated their support of the USMCA and the benefits to Nebraska.

"We are grateful to Rep. Bacon for his efforts to modernize and strengthen trade across North America and for his vote in favor of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement," said Dennis Slater, president of AEM. "The agreement ensures continued duty-free access to our industry's largest export markets, creates tens of thousands of new jobs, and adds $68 million to the U.S. economy. We applaud Rep. Bacon for his work to ensure the continued growth and prosperity of our industry, the local communities we serve, and the 18,000 hard-working men and women of the equipment manufacturing industry in Nebraska."
