Reps. Cox, Harder on Biological Opinions
Representatives TJ Cox (CA-21) and Josh Harder (CA-10) released the following statement after the United States Bureau of Reclamation implemented the new 2019 biological opinion governing operations of the Central Valley Project and State Water Project:
"The biological opinions needed to be updated with better, newer science. Without the State of California and the federal government reaching a resolution on their differences, conflicting management of the Central Valley Project and the State Water Project will lead to endless litigation and court battles rather than a set of workable solutions. We would prefer the parties work together in a meeting room rather than square up as rivals in the courtroom. The voluntary agreement process is the most effective way forward for our state's water needs. We encourage all parties to continue pushing for long-term, cooperative solutions. We stand ready to help all parties reach a resolution in any way we can."
