Congressman Carson Announces Millions in Additional Funding to Indy Airports

Statement

Congressman André Carson announced that the Indianapolis Airport Authority has received more than $50 million in federal grants as part of the CARES Act. This 2-trillion-dollar relief package, passed in March, provides for billions of dollars in support for aviation, which has been hurt by the global pandemic.

The grants are listed below:

$52,275,549 for Indianapolis International Airport

$69,000 for Eagle Creek Airpark

$20,000 for Indianapolis Downtown Airport

​"As a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation, I'm incredibly pleased that our local airports -- big and small -- have received this major funding boost at a time when it is needed more than ever." Rep. Carson said. "Indianapolis may be called the crossroads of America, but the friendly skies add to that distinction as well. We must protect the Indianapolis Airport Authority and the hard-working Hoosiers who make it one of the best in the nation, year after year. I'll continue working to provide additional relief for this critical industry, and for all workers in our community whose livelihoods have been jeopardized by this unprecedented crisis."

"The amount of money allocated for the Indianapolis Airport Authority's overall system, particularly the more than $52 million earmarked for the Indianapolis International Airport (IND), will support a vital economic driver as recovery efforts begin," IAA Executive Director Mario Rodriguez added.

"We applaud the leadership shown by the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other federal leaders, including Congressman André Carson, during these difficult times, and once again look forward to assisting in our state's economic recovery," Rodriguez said.
