Dr. Bucshon Joins Leader McCarthy's Lawsuit Against Speaker Pelosi's Proxy Voting Scheme

Statement

Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) released the following statement after joining Leader McCarthy's lawsuit against the unconstitutional proxy voting scheme:

"Speaker Pelosi's proxy voting scheme is unprecedented in the history of the House of Representatives and a danger to the Constitution. Our constituents expect their leaders to show up for work and give them a voice in the People's House. Throughout times of peril and uncertainty in our history -- including during the Civil War, the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918, and two world wars -- previous Congresses have continued to assemble in the Capitol and carry out the work of the people. I am disheartened and frustrated with House Democrats inability to show up for work, while health care workers and other frontline workers continue to show up for their jobs in the face of uncertainty. It has become clear that this proxy voting scheme is simply about empowering Speaker Nancy Pelosi to be able to move her agenda without a majority of the House actually having to show up and vote for it. That is why I support this lawsuit to end the unconstitutional proxy voting scheme."
