Eugene DePasquale Statement on the 10 Year Anniversary of the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act

Today, on the 10 year anniversary of the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act being signed into law by former President Obama candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania's Tenth congressional district, Eugene DePasquale made the following statement:

"Today marks the 10 year anniversary of President Obama signing the Affordable Care Act into law. This law increased the number of insured Americans to the highest levels and secured life-saving protections for every American.

"In light of the current situation with COVID-19, it's clearer now than ever before that every American ought to have quality, affordable health care.

"I know personally the impact of not having health care coverage has on families. My youngest brother passed away from muscular dystrophy and we were never able to get health insurance for him because of his pre-existing condition. When the Affordable Care Act passed I knew that families would never again have to face the same thing my family went through.

"However, the current administration and our current member of Congress are threatening to strip away these protections with a lawsuit. I stand firmly in my commitment that as your next congressman I will fight to reduce costs and ensure all Pennsylvanians and all Americans have access to quality health care regardless of their circumstances."
