Harder Statement on Supreme Court Ruling on Dreamers
Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) released the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump Administration acted illegally in eliminating the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program which protects 10,000 Dreamers in Rep. Harder's district from being deported. Rep. Harder will hold several events with local Dreamers over the coming days to hear stories and share information on the implications of this decision.
"This ruling is an important victory. Dreamers are Americans. They've lived here nearly their whole lives and it's not fair to deport them from the only country they've ever known. This is just a start however and we have to do more to protect these innocent young people.
"We passed the Dream Act last year, but Mitch McConnell and the Senate have refused to do their jobs. If they have a different plan, I'd love to hear it. But refusing to do anything is not an option. The lives of 10,000 young people in my district are in limbo through no fault of their own."
