Location: Louisville, KY

U.S. Senate candidate and Kentucky state Representative Charles Booker released today a memo outlining his policy priorities for a federal stimulus package to address the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The document is a statement of values at a time when the country's lawmakers are in dire need of moral clarity. In the letter, Rep. Booker clearly prioritizes free disease-related medical supplies, cash assistance, deferral of debt payments, and credit supports for the people, small businesses, and families most vulnerable to the pandemic and its accompanying economic fallout -- as opposed to unrestricted bailouts to wealthy industries. Charles Booker had the following to say:

"At a time like this, it's important to lead with facts and with moral clarity. The fact is that this pandemic is the greatest public health crisis our country has faced in over a century. And I have clarity that the United States government's response must prioritize supporting the most vulnerable among us."
