Congressman Lipinski's Statement on the Bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus' "March to Common Ground" COVID-19 Relief Framework

Press Release

Date: Sept. 15, 2020

"Americans are suffering greatly from the health and economic crises caused by COVID-19, but once again bickering and intransigence in Washington have led to gridlock on a critical issue. For the good of our country, Congress and the President must come together and negotiate a relief package. That is exactly what the bipartisan House Problem Solvers Caucus has done with our March to Common Ground. While the package is a compromise and is not perfect -- it does not include funding specifically for public transit, Amtrak, and other vital transportation sectors - its intent is to provide a framework and the impetus to restart negotiations and put us on the path to passing a bill. I am happy that Speaker Pelosi said today after the Problem Solvers Caucus announced our proposal that the House will stay in session until an agreement has been reached. For the good of our country, we must come together on COVID relief for the American people. It's way past time to end politics as usual in Washington."
