Gardner, Sinema, Cramer, and Heinrich Launch U.S. Senate Space Force Caucus

Press Release

Today U.S. Senators Cory Gardner (R-CO), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) announced the launch of the U.S. Senate Space Force Caucus. The co-chairs of the caucus also invited their colleagues in the U.S. Senate to join and support the sixth branch of the U.S. military.

"Today I am proud to launch the bipartisan United States Senate Space Force Caucus and support America's future in space along with Senators Sinema, Cramer, and Heinrich," said Senator Gardner. "My home state's leadership in space is unmatched -- Colorado is the provisional headquarters of U.S. Space Command, the only state that is home to two Space Force garrisons, and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs is training and educating future Space Force leaders. This new caucus will be an important platform for us to work across the aisle to support the brave men and women who serve our country in the U.S. Space Force and their mission to advance American national security interests in the space domain."

"Establishing the Space Force Caucus is an important first step toward finding common ground, supporting our national defense, and embarking on a new era of scientific discovery and innovation," said Senator Sinema.

"We established Space Force to maintain America's advantage in space and protect us from foreign adversaries. It requires Congressional oversight, authorization, and funding to properly carry out its mission," said Senator Cramer. "Our Space Force Caucus will provide an avenue to craft bipartisan legislative ideas and further support America's newest military branch."

"New Mexico has a long history of leadership in both space exploration and national defense, dating back to the earliest days of the U.S. space program. Our state hosts an extensive federal research, development and program management infrastructure focused on space along with a rapidly growing private space industry," said Senator Heinrich. "That is why I am proud to help form the bipartisan U.S. Senate Space Force Caucus to pioneer new policies and maintain New Mexico's leadership in the rapidly growing space economy. I will continue fighting to create new opportunities for military installations across the state and ensure that New Mexico has a seat at the table while the U.S. Space Force continues to develop."

"Establishment of the Senate Space Force Caucus underscores the importance of space to the nation. Americans use space daily for navigation, information, and communication. The Department of the Air Force looks forward to working with this new Caucus to protect national interests and advance indispensable capabilities provided by the U.S. Space Force," said U.S. Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett.
