Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, released the following statement after the House passed five bipartisan veterans' bills:

"In addition to passing S. 785, landmark veteran suicide prevention legislation, today, the House also forwarded four other important bills to the Senate," said Ranking Member Roe. "These bills build on our commitment to serving the men and women who have worn the cloth of our nation by supporting those struggling with unemployment, homelessness, debt, and more. One of those bills that was passed today is H.R. 7105, the DELIVER Act, which includes my bill to connect veterans who have lost their job due to COVID-19 with the training they need to get back on their feet and succeed in the post-pandemic economy. That bill also includes language sponsored by Republican Leader McCarthy to help homeless veterans find safe shelter and help student veterans pursue promising careers in the technology sector. Another bill that the House passed today, H.R. 8247, the Veterans' COMPACT Act, includes a bill authored by Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey to create a Task Force to examine how to increase outdoor recreation opportunities to improve veteran health and wellness. I am grateful to Leader McCarthy, Congressman Smith, and the Members on both sides of the aisle for their hard work today. I encourage our Senate colleagues to send these bills to the President's desk as soon as possible so that they can become the law of the land."
