Yoho Statement on $100M Announcement to Combat Human Trafficking
Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL) released the following statement after hearing U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr announce that the federal government is awarding $100 million dollars to help battle human trafficking:
"I applaud the Trump Administration and AG Barr for committing $100 million to the cause of fighting human tracking. This money will be instrumental in helping innocent victims caught in an unimaginable nightmare. As a father and Member of Congress, I have been active in the fight to end this horrendous crime.
"Recently I participated in a panel discussion in Ocala, FL, titled "Protecting Our Children." Forums like these, coupled with outreach programs, help educate businesses, agencies, our school administrators, and citizens on how to identify the signs of human trafficking. It starts with awareness. It is so important to learn what to look for, identify it and call law enforcement.
"This $100 million will go a long way in funding human trafficking task forces, victim services, and victims housing. Every little bit helps bring more and more people out of the shadows and into a brighter future."
