Mucarsel-Powell Calls Out Trump's Hypocritical Executive Order To Protect Pre-Existing Conditions, Demands He Drop Lawsuit To Dismantle Health Care Protections

Statement

Date: Sept. 24, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26) released the following statement on Trump's executive order that claims to protect pre-existing conditions:

"The over 330,000 people in my district with pre-existing conditions know that the president's executive order is an insult and a sham. After years of attempting to rip care away from Americans and promising a new healthcare plan, the president is now issuing an empty order to disingenuously claim to protect people with pre-existing conditions. At the same time, he is fighting in court to dismantle the protections that already exist in the Affordable Care Act," said Mucarsel-Powell. "I'm calling on Trump to take real action to protect America's health care and drop the lawsuit to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. I will continue fighting to defend and strengthen our health care system, protect Floridians with pre-existing conditions, and lower prescription drug costs."
