Bishop Announces FEMA Awards for Local Fire Departments in Waxhaw, Lumberton

Congressman Dan Bishop (NC-09) announced grants for the Wesley Chapel Volunteer Fire Department and Deep Branch Fire/Rescue, Inc. through the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA).

"Fire departments are critical to keeping our families and homes safe. I am thankful for all who dedicate their lives to ensure our local safety and applaud FEMA for prioritizing the need for more trained, frontline workers in our communities," said Rep. Bishop.

These grants are part of FEMA's Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) awards, created to help local fire departments retain and expand the number of trained firefighters to help keep their communities safe. The Wesley Chapel Volunteer Fire Department in Waxhaw will receive $332,500 and Deep Branch Fire/Rescue, Inc. in Lumberton will receive $35,000.
