Statement

Date: Sept. 24, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Dan Bishop (NC-09) joined House Resolution 1134, which expresses support for the designation of "National Small Business Week," as an original cosponsor.

"Small Businesses are the backbone of the American economy. They've been hit hard by the shutdowns from the coronavirus pandemic and deserve the support of their communities, which they have continued to serve. I am grateful for the opportunity to highlight their value and to fight on their behalf every day in Congress," said Rep. Bishop.

Congressman Bishop serves on the Small Business Committee, which is critical to overseeing the creation and distribution of forgivable loans through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). PPP was passed as part of a coronavirus aid package, and allows small businesses to keep afloat during the coronavirus pandemic, saving roughly 182,000 jobs in the Ninth District alone. 2020 marks the 57th annual National Small Businesses Week, which runs September 22-24th.
