Congressman Gonzalez Responds to President Trump's Shutdown of Covid-19 Negotiations

Press Release

Date: Oct. 6, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued a statement after President Trump shut down critical COVID-19 negotiations.

"I am praying for President Trump's recovery, but walking away from the table when millions of Americans are suffering as a result of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic is cowardice. The President has received world class health care and treatment for COVID-19, but refuses to empathize with the plight of so many who have lost loved ones to this virus. Americans still have to pay rent, buy food for their families and purchase prescription drugs. No one should have to choose between putting food on the table or bypassing medications because they can't afford it. We need to prioritize the people in my district and across the United States who need relief now not judges. It's time for new leadership in this country."

Congressman Gonzalez represents the 15th District of Texas which includes Hidalgo County which was one of the hardest hit counties by COVID-19 in Texas and the country.
