McKinley Announces Major Infrastructure Investment For I-79 Corridor

Today, U.S. Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-W.Va.) announced $20,000,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Better Utilizing Investment Leverage Development (BUILD) Grants to repair 19 bridges along Interstate 79 in Harrison, Marion, and Monongalia counties.
"The I-79 Corridor is a big economic driver for the North Central part of the state with West Virginia University, two airports, multiple federal facilities, and significant energy production located along it," said McKinley. "This much-needed investment is key to ensuring our infrastructure is upgraded and modernized. I look forward to seeing the economic development both West Virginia and the surrounding states will receive once the project is complete."

"This Administration is making significant investments in infrastructure, and this $1 billion in BUILD grants will repair, rebuild, and revitalize transportation systems across America," said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao.

Congressman McKinley sent a letter to Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao in support of the West Virginia Divisions of Highway's application for this funding.

The U.S. Department of Transportation's BUILD, or Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development, program offers competitive grants for transportation projects across the country.
