Sen. Cramer Statement on Democrats Blocking Targeted Relief for Americans in Need

Statement

Date: Oct. 21, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Banking Committee and Senate Budget Committee member, issued the following statement on Senate Democrats blocking the "Delivering Immediate Relief to America's Families, Schools and Small Businesses Act," a targeted relief package with bipartisan ideas to provide relief for the American people:

"Senate Democrats blocked relief twice in March. They blocked it in April. They blocked it in September. It should be no surprise they blocked it again today. Whenever Republicans have offered a lifeline to the American people, Senate Democrats have stood in the way. Because of them, we do not have more money for schools, small businesses, unemployment insurance, or to combat the virus that caused this mess. Democrats might think the American people should get nothing simply because they aren't getting everything on their liberal wish list, but that is wrong. Our constituents deserve better."

The bill Senate Democrats blocked today is a $500 billion proposal containing bipartisan ideas such as a federally-expanded unemployment benefits, a second round of Paycheck Protection Program loans, $100 billion for schools, and additional funding to combat COVID-19. Learn more here.
