Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) October 2020 jobs report:

"Today's numbers demonstrate the limits of economic recovery during a still-uncontrolled pandemic. The new record-breaking spikes in cases across the country imperil our ability to climb out of the COVID recession.

"Meanwhile, just two months remain before key pandemic unemployment supports expire at the end of the year, putting millions of Americans at risk of losing vital assistance. It is essential that Senate Republicans join the House in passing a robust relief package that both extends this aid for jobless workers and includes resources that will allow us to crush the virus and get our economy back on track."
