Wilson bill to expand rewards for justice at Stae Department passess House unanimously

Statement

On November 18, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed H.R. 4802 introduced by Congressman Joe Wilson and Congressman Ted Deutch. This bill will incentivize informants to come forward with actionable information regarding evasion of U.S. or UN sanctions by expanding the Rewards for Justice program at the State Department.

"Passing a sanctions bill is one thing, enforcement is another," said Congressman Joe Wilson upon the bill's passage. "The crucial legislation will provide the U.S. government with better information which will in turn yield stronger enforcement of sanctions on some of the world's most nefarious regimes, like Iran, China, and Russia. Enactment of this bill will further strengthen the integrity of U.S. and UN sanctions and make it that much harder for rogue regimes to skirt sanctions laws. I urge my Senate colleagues to take up this bill as soon as possible."
