Congressman Tom Rice (R-SC) released the following statement regarding the announcement of broadband expansion in Marion County that was made possible by CARES Act funds.

"Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC) expanding in Marion County was made possible by a 1.5 million dollar grant from South Carolina Broadband Infrastructure Program created in the CARES Act and a matching investment from HTC."

"This expansion will help Marion stay connected and compete in the 21st century economy, provide students with increased learning opportunities, and support underserved residents impacted by the pandemic," said Congressman Tom Rice. "Broadband infrastructure is an invaluable resource that will greatly benefit the Seventh District."

"We are excited to extend this network and be able to serve greater portions of Marion County," said HTC CEO Mike Hagg. "This will open up tremendous opportunities for students, businesses, and families to harness the power of the internet."
