Statement

Date: Oct. 13, 2020
Location: Oak Ridge, TN

Today, Congressman Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03) spoke at the Vision 2020 event in Oak Ridge, Tennessee celebrating the completion of cleanup operations at the East Tennessee Technology Park. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Governor Bill Lee (R-TN), and Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette also spoke at the event.

"I am honored and excited to be a part of today's celebration with Senator Lamar Alexander, Governor Bill Lee, and Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette. I applaud the DOE's Environmental Management program and the thousands of East Tennesseans that have worked for years to make today a reality," Rep. Fleischmann said. "The realization of Vision 2020 -- the completion of cleanup operations at the East Tennessee Technology Park, now the Heritage Center -- is a tremendous milestone for nuclear cleanup in the state, as well as in the country. I will continue to work tirelessly in Congress to make sure that the cleanup progress that we are celebrating today continues until we have successfully fulfilled our obligation to cleanup legacy nuclear sites."
